LONDON (April 19) -- The normally sedate world of British academia erupted in scandal last weekend, as the wife of a top historian admitted attacking her husband's literary rivals in anonymously posted reviews on Amazon.co.uk.

And she's not the only faker: A nonfiction author has told AOL News that many writers -- including himself -- view bogus Web reviews as an "essential part of survival in the Amazon jungle."
